SS-31 reconstitution math, explained

The math is short. Concentration = vial size ÷ bacteriostatic water. Draw volume = target amount ÷ concentration. Units = draw volume × 100 (a U-100 syringe reads 100 units per mL). The table below shows common SS-31 setups and the units for a 1 mg amount at each.

Mixing, color & storage tips

Milligram scale means large draws

SS-31 amounts are whole milligrams, not micrograms, so draws are much larger than for a typical peptide. At 5 mg/mL a 5 mg target is a full 1 mL — the entire capacity of a U-100 syringe. A more concentrated mix keeps larger amounts inside one syringe.

Mixing without foam

Add the bacteriostatic water slowly against the inside wall of the vial and swirl gently until fully dissolved. Do not shake.

Storage

Keep the dry powder cold and dark. Refrigerate once reconstituted, keep it out of light, and plan around a limited usable window. Do not freeze a mixed vial.

SS-31 vs other mitochondrial compounds

SS-31 targets the inner mitochondrial membrane directly, which is a different mechanism from MOTS-c (a mitochondrial-derived signalling peptide) or NAD+ (a cofactor). They are often discussed together but they are not substitutes for one another.
